The Jean Perrin high school opened his doors in 1966, and it was entirely renovated in 1997.
The school has got two labels:
– Industry, health and social, and enterprise high school
– Equality of boys and girls.
The Jean Perrin High school is a vocational high school. It is located in the north of Essonne, at 25km south of Paris. It welcomes almost 800 students; 45% of them are girls. It prepares students for a certificate of professional competence (CAP) or a professional baccalaureate.
The training offered are from different fields. The first one is industrial sector (300 students) which prepares for careers in electricity, maintenance, boilermaking, industrial design. The second one is tertiary sector (300 students) which prepares in administration and management, trading. The last one is health and social (200 students) which prepares in child care, or people services.
Finally, Jean Perrin High School hosts two classes for students with disabilities and one class for newly arrived non-native speakers, in order to foster their inclusion and academic success.
This diversity of training and the population welcomed constitutes both an asset for the climate of the school and a prevention issue for living together. There are numerous issues related to the well-being of the population of students hosted.
The students come mainly from throughout the Essonne department, and some on them have long journeys to come to high school.
86 teachers work in Jean Perrin high school. This is a quite young but a steady team. They are involved in several projects.
Jean Perrin (1870–1942) was a famous French physicist and chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1926. He proved the real existence of atoms and molecules by studying Brownian motion, and he played a key role in founding the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) in France
